What happens when a headstrong vampire and a faerie princess decide to live together as roommates…fireworks! Check out the latest installment in the Darklife Shorts, prequels to the upcoming novel Crimson Dawn, from freshman author Ronnie Massey.
For two years pureblood vampire, Valeria Trumaine and Sidhe princess, Irulan Nightingale, have lived together as roommates. Life long friends, the two thought that nothing could come between them, but they were wrong.
When emotions that Irulan has avoided acknowledging, refuse to remain hidden any longer, her frustration with untold secrets and old grievances, drive her to an ‘open-mouth-insert-foot’, moment with Valeria, driving the two apart, mayhem ensues.
But when two roommates fall out, it’s usually not a life or death situation…unless both of you are super powered Extras.
My Thoughts: I truly loved the conflict that Irulan is facing. This is an exciting and sexy read that makes me want to hound the author until she gives me more. Lesbian vampires, fights and super powers pack this short story full of action and adventures. Once I started I couldn’t stop. These secrets that Irulan is holding back has me sitting on the edge of my sit for more. If your a vampire and been living for almost 300 years I beat you do have a story to tell.
Conversational: Being in love with a straight woman. Gosh, Believe me when I say I know that is hard. I was in love with a woman that only liked sex with women as recreational. I fell hard. There is nothing you can do about it because she loves men. Its already hard coming out to the world and as lesbians you would know it, but trying to get your partner to come out is much harder. Especially if they do not want to. And then going back into the closet for this person is worse.. Sex, love, lies… murder… lol.
Favorite Quotes: “To say I’m gambling denotes the possibility of a loss. Hon, this is a sure fire win.”
Overall: 4/5 Chocolate Strawberries: Really Liked it: Very sexy vampire read. I enjoyed the action that came about. Ready and waiting for more.
